A stele is a roughly 8ft high stone that would have all 252 of Hammurabi's laws written on it, there is only one completely intact stele today and it is on display in a museum. There were many more stele in the 18th century and they were placed throughout the kingdom of Babylon in order to remind the people of the rules.
